I specialize in “modern military marine paintings” in watercolor. Although this is my interest, based on my 24 years in the U. S. Navy and its reserve, it is only a small part of what I paint. As a recognized marine artist I’ll paint a portrait of your boat or boats that you like to look at. In short, if it floats, I’ll do it. The U.S. Coast Guard has named me as one of its “official” artists, chosen to chronicle that service’s daily activities. But I also do portraits from life, landscapes, your home, and the like. All one has to do is ask.

A native of the old historical seafaring town of Salem, Massachusetts, I am a graduate of Kimball Union Academy, Brown University and earned a postgraduate degree at Boston University. I maintain a studio at my home in Salem, exhibit and try to work every day on current projects along with teaching watercolor to students of all levels. I have been painting exclusively in watercolor for past the 12 years but also paint in oil and acrylics. My works have earned “Best of Show” honors in regional shows in New England and in Florida.

I am a Professional Signature member of the International Society of Marine Painters (ISMP), and a member of the American Society of Marine Artists (ASMA), and the American Watercolor Society (AWS). I am an Artist member of the Marblehead, Salem, and Swampscott Art Associations in Massachusetts and the founder of the Ossipee Riverlands Artists League, now The Art Group, in Maine and New Hampshire.
